First Big Snow of the Winter!!!

Jan. 25, we all awoke to find a winter wonderland right outside our doors. In the middle of the night, it decided to dump about 12in. of snow. It was soo fun watching each of the children get up, wipe the sleep from their eyes, look out the window and react.

This was Levi's first time with snow. He wasn't completely thrilled with the cold, white, wet stuff. But despite his protests, Mom had to capture it on film for the scrapbook.

The kids all had a great time sledding down our hill in the back. John's school was canceled due to power outage so he supervised the snow play. At one time, Miriam and Abby came sledding down the hill, Daddy caught Abby but missed Miriam and she went off the edge of our hill. Although frightened, she was unharmed and Daddy found her like a cartoon ( head in the snow, feet kicking in the air) quite comical once we knew she was okay.

Skiing Has Started

We hit the slopes Monday, January 14 for the first time this season. I coordinate our homeschool co-op's ski program and we will be going 6 times this year unless we have sickness or blizzard conditions.
This was Isaac and Abby's 5th time on skis and Miriam's first. Isaac and Abby were able to go on a lift for the first time. They were so excited. I was a little nervous. The instructor was with them and she said they were ready so I trusted her judgement and they did great!!!

My main concern with Miriam was whether she would like it or not. Although she was down as much as she was up, she always had a smile and seemed to like it. She was pretty tired after only 1 1/2 hrs. We only stayed for a couple of hours and that was probably all she could do (this time).

I was fortunate to have my pastor's wife, Kathy, watch Levi and he did wonderful for her. It was his first time being away from his family members so it was good to know that didn't freak him out.

Levi FYI

Levi has taken his first steps. I didn't want to believe it so he decided to do it right infront of me last night. My baby!!! He's only 9mos. (okay 10mos. tomorrow). Still, I'm not ready. He's going too fast. I'm so enjoying his babyhood. I'm not ready for toddlerhood. Ready or not here it comes.

Cambria

We spent the first 2 days of the New Year in Cambria, CA. It is only about 200 miles from us and only takes about 3.5 hrs. if everyone cooperates.

This is our absolute favorite spot to vacation. For a California beach town, it is quiet, quaint and cozy. The weather this time of year is usually beautiful (not too cold and never too hot). There is a great place to explore tide pools. The kids never leave the beach without being completely soaked. They have a wonderful city park right by the beach. They have a very nice Motel 6 that only costs $50/night (unheard of ). I'm sure there will be many more picts and blogs in the future.

About Me

My photo
I'm a stay at home, homeschooling mom to four beautiful children and wife to my dream man who I am completely in love with. I love God and am in the process of learning rather recently (I'm sorry to say) that I can do no good thing apart from Him.
